hotpoint aquarious dc26 dishwasher not draining?

hi just wondered if anyone knows what could be wrong with my dishwasher? it is not draining water it just sits in the bottom of the machine have to manually empy it, checked filters and waste pipe all seem ok, dreading having to call an engineer, are they expensive?? thanks for reading,
