Mend Craftsman 917.271061 Mower Runs Left

Craftsman Mower Model#917.271061?

The steering went. There is a rod which runs to the left axle which is attached to a ball joint. It has popped off. There are no cotter pins. It appears that there is a bushing that fits on the ball joint and holds the rod. What do I need to do to reattach the rod. Thanks,

replace ends and joint if old one pops off it is wore out put back at same place by counting number of turns to take off.sometimes you have to replace the hole steering rod if you can not just change ends.
