Mend Pacific 1002 Mk2 Dvd Player Machine

Pacific DVD Player 1002 Mk2?

When I plug the machine in the red stand by light comes on. However, the display screen does not light up, and there is no response when I press any of the other buttons. I do not have the remote control.

Can you help?
