Mend Panasonic TV Picture

How do I fix the flickering picture on my Panasonic TV?

My panasonic TV flickers when watching regular TV. Sometimes the picture diminishes to a horizontal white line across the screen. If you hit the TV it can bring back the picture and steady it. There does not seem to be a problem when watching DVDs or videotapes. I think there is a loose connection somewhere. Any suggestions?

Dry joints to frame output IC (7 or 9 pin IC, usually circuit ref. IC451). It will get worse if not attended too & is a simple repair for an engineer to correct.
PS. Don't run TV with a white line as it may damage the tube.
