Cooker Hood fan or light not working - please help?!?

A couple of weeks ago I pulled up the extractor hood on my cooker (AEG Electrolux EPSO MSS, Product No. 9497/11039) to which it appeared that the bulb blew and neither the light or fan has worked since. Have tried changing the bulbs incase this had tripped the whole unit out but nothing. Have had a friend round who knows a bit about electrics but he is stumped too. Any ideas?? The cooker has been installed since the house was built so about 15 years. Thanks!
