how do i fix my 1998 ford taurus?

my car has been overheating esp when the air conditioning is on. when i accelerate it cuts back and stalls. it is making a roaring sound .

If it is losing coolant, it might be the water pump. I believe it probably is the the thermostat. Replace it first.
