My steam generator iron will not produce steam?

My kenwood steam generator iron, Model No. G-1123ST will not produce any steam. It's only 9 months old, I now get no noise from the unit like before, which sounded water boiling. I have replaced the filter, but still no joy, any suggestions?

My argos own brand iron (steam works)stopped producing steam ,no heat travelling up the cable either. I stood the iron unplugged in a bowl containing oust de-scaler with just enough hot water to cover the steam vents. Left for 2 hours and now working fine
