Mend Home HF106 Thread Breaks Top

My new home hf106 keeps breaking the thread?

I cannot find my book on the machine but am following the pictures on it to thread it but it breaks the top thread every inch or so. It seems the thread is not flowing freely through the machine.

Make sure the top tension is about 4 or 5 and make sure the thread is going through the tension discs and not round the outside, presser foot up when you thread the machine and make sure you thread the machine with the thread going round the tension unit then up to the takeup lever.
