Mend Land Rover Discovery Series II System

Land Rover Door Lock/Alarm System?

My 2000 Land Rover Discovery Series II is in Security Alarm Mode. The key fob is broken so I have been using the valet key. The key will only go halfway into the drivers side door lock and will not turn so the security alarm system will not disarm. Land Rover says tow it to the dealer which is 90 miles away. Please advise.
