Mend Smeg DW1710 Dishwasher Repair Button

Smeg Dishwasher on/off button wont stay down?

We have a smeg DW1710 our on/off button does not stay down hence we cannot programme the washer. We can hold it down manually and the programme lights come on, but when we release the switch they all go out! Can we fix it ourselves, or do we have to call in an engineer? (which we can ill afford)
