changed ignition barrel ?

i have changed my ignition barrel on my car a ford fiesta m reg the key will turn to number two to start the engin but the engine refuses to start

if you have an old key that used to start car prise the red plastic peice out to get the chip out and replace chip in new key so recognses it then will start car
