Boots Cine Projector - replacing the drive belt?

It's a lovely projector in great condition apart from the broken drive belt. It looks pretty tricky to get the replacement belt on. Think I'll be ok cutting the belt (at an angle) fitting it and then using superglue to replair the cut?

I'll try it but if someone's already done this and thinks it's a poor idea, I'll take thing to bits...
