on/off button?

unlikely to be the button - more likely to be a heat related fault - either in the power supply or in a control circuit - you turn it on - a component breaks down and fails - it turns off because of the fault - the component recovers (but the on/off button still says ON) and so it continues... I would guess Power Supply - but that's mere conjecture.
