Renault megane radio fault?

stalk control has stopped working and radio is not working,replaced radio with after market one and this one works ok.checked all fuses and they are ok.fault between stalk control and radio,does anyone know what the fault is please.

I think i must be getting ripped off then, i locked my 06 megane last night and the window went down and wouldnt got back up. I started my car this morning and the radio didnt work and the lights on the display werent were'nt working, so i took it to the garage and they have said that i need the ECU replacing at a cost of £200 and if that doesnt mend the window then it must be the regulator which will then cost me £331... i wish i had looked on here before i took it to the garage.

you have to remove the radio (I bought some removal pins from halfords for £4.99 i think i might be using them alot) when you get the radio out unplug all of the connectors then plug them back in. you then have to enter the radio code. Hey Presto music!!!!. really easy. just try replacing a new headlight bulb what a nightmare. hope u get your radio working

I had exactlly the same problem.It worked after new battery was fitted in December.Happened again last week. Just picked it up from Renault, new radio fitted,cost nothing! It is a fault that will re occur.mine is an 06 too.

My 56 plate Magane radio doesn't like the cold - radio will not turn on bu the display lights up with temp. Fuse ok so took radio out, took all the plugs out,put them back andit works!

I didnt need to take my radio out in the end.

The battery ended up totally dead - the radio backlight eventually went off.

when I jump started my car this rebooted everything and the radio / clock backlight etc all sorted itself out.

How easy is it to take the radio out? I have exactly the same problem (and now also a flat battery because of the radio display backlight remaining on) The radio and multi changer looks like its all moulded in???

Hi Thomas, We've just had the same problem. We took the radio out, placed it on a warm radiator in the house for a day or so and guess what....it now works. The cold snap does us every year. Sounds daft but worth a try.

Take radio out, take all wires out of the back of the radio. Put all wires back in radio. Then put ur 4 digit code in using volume stalk.

Took car to renault dealer today. They are obviously familiar with the fault. I quoted yellow OST and they agreed to send the radio back to Renault to exchange for a new unit. This is not an uncommon fault and removal of radio now means the clock LED display goes out when ignition off.

None the wiser but £50 lighter and fault rectified. As described to me the Body Systems Interface (BSI) needed unlocking. Think it does need an auto electrician to sort out

I have exactly same problem after garage replaced headlight bulbs. Car now with elec garage to hopefully sort out problem. Will report back their finding

Took my daughters car to Halfords, had the headlight bulbs changed (£5.99 ea) and brought car back. Next morning daughter went to start car and found radio not working and dash display stopping on. Not sure if radio was working when I left Halfords. Daughter assures me the radio was working ok before. Coincidence??? Just changed the fuse but still not working
