Lcd display screen not working?

Hi,
My fuji finepix Ax200 digital camera LCD screen has stopped working and is just a blank, black screen.
The rest of the functions of the camera seem to work, but you can't see the photo you are taking, view the menu, or previously taken photos. Also, my laptop will not recognise the camera when i connect it. When you switch the camera on and press the display button a messege does then appear on the screen to update the firmware, which i have tried to do, but as it won't connect to my laptop it didn't work. I have only had the camera 2 months but have lost the reciept, so i can't use it's warranty. Any help would be great, thank you
