rover 414i alarm?

unlock the car with key in drivers door, then press the unlock button on fob a number of times to re sync the immobilizer to the key, also check the fob is working (maybe flat battery?) - hold the fob up close to a cheap AM radio and you should hear the radio make buzzing noises when you press the lock/unlock buttons in - you may have to re tune the radio to a point that no radio stations can be found though. this test is only an indicator the fob is doing something!

try locking then unlocking car after fitting battery if not will need a key code (normally supplied with car manual ) to key in the door failling that go to nearest rover dealer to you with log book and ID and they will charge a fee norm £25 to supply you with key code
