Rover 800/825 SI Clutch problem - Lost pressure, does not work?
I have a Rover 800 1997. The clutch went, I push down and get nothing. The slave cylinder was leaking so I replaced that, didnt fix the problem. I dropped the transmission, then replaced the clutch master cylinder. I bled it, pumped it, and now I get a little more pedal feel but the clutch still does not work. The next time I am going to try is the clutch plates, and see if that works. Does any one have any suggestions as to what the problem might be? All of this time and money is adding up!

See Brakes International tip. The fault may be the clutch master cylinder but it could just be air. Note that the clutch master cylinder gets its fluid from the top of the brake fluid reservoir. As the brake pads wear, the fluid level falls and the clutch master cylinder may suck air when its take-off point becomes exposed. Pressure bleeding should solve the problem that pumping the clutch pedal won't solve. Good luck

I think you might find (if its the same as my vitesse) that the clutch fluid is drawn from the brake fluid reservoir.
I'm having a similar problem at the moment, mine is completely undrivable. Pedal just drops to the floor, bled out loads of air and it seems that air is entering the sysem somewhere, as the slave cylinder is under 5 months old im now suspecting the master cylinder is drawing it in somewhere.

if it has a hydraulic clutch have u checked the clutch fluid levels it has a little filling bottle under the bonnet if thats low u will lose ur clutch just refill it if its empty and pump the clutch a few times and the clutch will come back
