Interior light wont work - Rover 200 S reg?

Please help. Just bought S reg rover 200, and interior (roof) light didn't work. Removed bulb and could see wire broken inside. Bought new bulb, installed, still wont work. Checked fuse layout in handbook, and same fuse governs clock and radio, both of which working. What should I do now? (Apart from going to expensive motor electrics man!) Thanks in advance.

check each door plunger is springing out when you open the door, also the light switch has more than one position something like 1) OFF, 2) door activated, 3) permanently on doors shut reading a paper etc you make be trying with switch in wrong position

try get access to the broken wire and re join it then your light should work just join it then put electical tape round it good luck
