How can I open the door of my hoover hnl6166?

I managed to break the handle of my hoover washing machine trying to open it. I now cant get the door open to get washing out, or indeed fix it!

I've tried levering with screwdrivers inside the handle, but can't really see or release the catch.

Can anyone help? Thanks.
