How can I fix error message on my Epson Dx8400?

When I turn on my Epson DX8400 printer it comes up with an error message "A printer error has occurred. Turn off the printer, then press ON button to turn on, See your documentation" I have tried this a few times and the same message appears.
I have had a problem with my computer and I have had to have windows re-installed. I have set-up the printer again but the same message is appearing
