Space saver 38 problem with pilot light?

Hi

If anyone could please help.

I have a space saver 38. I am getting a pilot light when i am igniting it, but as soon as I release the gas valve control knob, the pilot light goes out.

Any help with this matter would be greatfuly appreciated.

Most common cause is (assuming the pilot light is good and strong), would be the thermocouple
