Craftsman 32cc weedwacker pull cord?

Greetings,

I have a Craftsman 32cc weedwacker pull cord broken, have all the screws out of the shroud and am trying to get the clutch assy off to get to the cord attach. Any idea how to get the clutch assy off?

Tnks for the insight. I was to the point where; I didn't know if the clutch was pressed on...?....or if it was threaded. I was actually leaning towards "pressed" only because I had tried to spin it off, but it was just on too tight. So I was able to turn off the clutch and successfully get to my broken cord. I have been looking at this for a week now..wondering what to do. So thanks again!

I did not have to remove the spring from the clutch. I was able to give it a sharp blow using a screwdriver without taking the pieces apart, and then it unscrewed (counterclockwise) off the shaft. I put a big screwdriver in the back of the motor to prevent the motor from spinning when I struck the clutch to remove it and then to put it on after re-tying the starting string.

i'f its the same one i have, you had one screw in the middle and when the cover comes off and the clutch was showing. you need to take the spring off and pull the pieces off and if you look on one of the ends it says (off) with an arrow, you need a brass punch or something soft and tap it in the direction of the arrow.
