Mend Panasonic DMR-EX88EB Recording Playback Hard Drive

How can I fix my Panasonic dvd recorder. DMR-EX88EB?

When I record on the hard drive, and then play back, the recorded programme shows as picture break up and is clear in parts. But it keeps breaking up and is unwatchable in this state. I have formatted the hard drive, but it still a problem.
Do I need to replace the hard drive, and if so, can it be done by me.

To proove if the hdd is faulty try recording off an external input if that workes either your aerial, tuner or digital decoder is faulty. Only replace hdd with the same size and type
