Mend Maytag SAV4HD Washer Dial Turn

maytag sav-4 hd washer?

My washer does not finish its cycle. The control dial will turn to the finished position but it has not completed the cycle. It will be full of soapy water. I can turn the dial back a little and make it complete the cycle. Do you know what i can try and how do I get the dial off of the thing?
