my washer is not spinning all of the water out?

Hi, I have a Kenmore washer 110 22712 type 111. At the end I open the lid and the water has not all spun out. I can then manually turn the dial to spin and it will all spin out. Sometimes the fabric softener is still in the dispenser, then I will manually put it to rinse again, but at the end I need to manually put it to spin to get the water all out. This does not happen 100% of the time, every so often, it works just fine. Why do you think this may be happening? Thanks!
