How can i fix my washing machine Whirlpool, awo/d 4505?

Hi every one, can someone help me on my problem with the above model? My washing machine has just packed up. We have only had it 18 months. When we try to start the "wash" cycle it fills up with water and fails to spin. I checked the filter and nothing was clogging the system. Could this be the motor brushes? Has any one had a similar problem with this model. I would very grateful for your opinions. Thank you very much.
