Mend Briggs & Stratton Countax

Countax C600H not charging?

My Briggs & Stratton V-Twin has no charge coming from the alternator (I've tested it with a multimeter). I guess the alternator needs changing, but I cannot locate it; is it combined with the starter motor and is it repairable?

Briggs & Stratton Garden Tools, Lawn Mowers Countax Briggs Stratton

It is not connected to the starter, it will be screwed to the crankcase under the flywheel, it will also probably have a rectifier on the the side of the engine.
