how to fix central locking for citreon xsara?

i have a problem with my remote looking,i brought the car and got told all it needs is a new battery but hey that never worked either. took it to citreon and they tested it said the battery needed replacing and then it should work but never did. does anyone know how to reset the central locking? thanks
