Mend Baumatic BDW8 Dishwasher Problem

Baumatic BDW8 Dishwasher continues to run?

Hi,
I have Baumatic BDW8 dishwasher. On running a full load cycle, it continues to run for hours. The only way to stop is to open the door. There seems to be some water in it. Running a rinse cycle after that seems to complete the job. What could be the problem?
