Baumatic BDW 45.1 Dishwasher programme function?

i have the above ,but a problem, open the door...push the on button .. and then try to select the programme. i have to push the electronic "p" button 100 times to get even the first light on, (pot wash) and sometimes only 3 times, so to start it can take from 30 seconds to 1 hour, and a very sore finger !!! does anyone know a cure, is it a circuit to replace ? the "p" button or what ??
