Ranger American PC1550?

QUESTION: Good Morning
I have a Ranger American PC 1550 unit in my home I just replaced the back up battery and it seems to work fine except when you key in your 4 digit code that sets the alarm with no problem but a bypass light comes on. Is this normal ? When you check to see if any zones show up as being bypassed it shows nothing Can some one give me a little help. Also another question the motion dector in the living room seems to be working fine because when you walk across the room it comes on and turns red. My question is why doesn’the motion set the alarm off when you walk past it when you are already in the house after you have set the alarm also about how long will the back up battery work with out having any power to the system.
