Mend Citroen Dispatch 1.9d Drive Van Engine

Is it safe to drive?

I have just driven home in my Citroen Dispatch 1.9d van and as i got to the top of my road the Engine Autodiagnosis light came on and noise like a tank emiting from van is it safe to drive it to the garage about 3 miles away and any idea what it might be Thanks Dave
