Mend Singer 5816 Help Turning Stays

My singer 5816 is stuck on straight stitch. please help?

as above it is stuck in straight stitch, i have tried turning it to zig-zag and it stays stitching in straight. any advice wlecome. it stiches really nicely but wont change

Yer thanks I had a look in the top and all looks ok .are the cams the White circles?how to I solve this??

Hello James,
You need to look at the camstack in the top to see if it has split and the selecter arm may be stuck in the split, or the selecter arm may not be touching the cams but you need to look in the top first.
