replace with a fire door so next time he does it he breaks his toes

Inexpensive interior doors ready painted white may be had from UK stores for about £11 - some carpentry skills / tools will be required to fit it. About an hour's work for somebody who knows what to do.
If the door is uPVC then the broken panel can be replaced.
