Mend Yardman 559 Full Carb Cleaned

How can i stop full throttle, after carb was removed cleaned Yardman 559?

I took off carm spring and unhooked rod to clean gunk out. When I put back together I am at full throttle no matter what i do when starting. What have I done wrong. Is there a certain way I was to re--attach carb rod and spring, so as I increase or decrease speed it works??.......HELP
