renault clio?

hi my renault clio 52reg 1.2 16v has engine mangement light come on the bottom righthand side of dash display that does go off aswell when it chooses to.i have noticed it to flash on and off continuesly.the car cuts out wen it wants to goes in to lip mode and mis fires.i have read on a post on here that some one has removed sensors going to carb located on top of the engine at the back main sensor are in side a solid metal case remove case flick open the thin metal clips and pulled sensor from houseing (two of them)drown both ends in wd40 and replace.do the same with the other pull apart connections in the vacininty for good measures should this solve my answer.many thanks
