Mend Briggs & Stratton 18.5 Deere Engine

gas in oil ?

i have a john deere 18.5 briggs engine ,was using it ,began to smok badly and missing ,shut down checked oil ,gas was in the oil , told it was the fuel pump -replaced fuel pump ,filter draine oil ,drained fuel tank , started up ,runs but bad and rough ,but no smoking
