Mend Indesit IS70C Wrong Condenser Dryer

What is wrong with my Indesit IS70C condenser dryer?

Belt fell off, turned out to be the jockey pully so replaced but noticed a huge amount of carbon build up on the inside of the machine. Is this normal or do I have another problem? What could be causing it?
