Mend Sunbeam AT40 Radiant Control Toaster

Thermostat adjustment on Sunbeam Radiant Control Toaster?

Sunbeam Radiant Control Toastamatic Model AT40 made in Australia before 1993.
I know how to adjust the toast rack at the bottom but my toaster remains ON as long as it is plugged into the power. The main control system seems to have become stuck on. Is that a dead thermostat or do the screws at the top and bottom adjust it some way?
