check wiring to rev light switch,wires can rub through on bulkhead under bonnet [i think they are on same fuse as flashers]

check the live feed to the brake pedal switch under the dash it may have rubbed through to earth. also by flasher lights do you mean indicators if so leave your ignition off and try your hazard lights if they work the fault is not on the indicator circuit.
