can i remove peugeot gearbox?

i have a 07 model peugeot boxer 2.2 turbo diesel high roof long wheelbase van which ocasionaly has a knocking on tickover from bellhousing. i need to know if i can get the gearbox out without removing the engine. do i need any special tools etx . many thanks tim
