peugeot 306 d ,rear wheel bearings?

how do i change the rear wheel bearing on my 306 diesel,i know thay are solid bearings but when i took of the drum the outer bearing just fell out ,the inner is held in place by a circlip ,but the problem is how do i get the bearing case out from the hub it seems to be stuck in the hub ,any ideas how to remove it thanks?

i,ve tuck the centre nut and clip out the wheel hub but the hub still won,t come off can you tell me how to get it off thanks

The rear drum and bearing are sold as a unit for models with ABS ie turbo diesel like mine and not cheap £90 or so.

hello , first remove the hub from the shaft (undo the middle nut) then remove the circlip then turn the hub over and apply some heat to the bearing caseing, then get a large socket and place it on the inner bearing and keep hitting it until it pops out (it will pop out!) once removed and cooled down rub the inside with some sand paper then coat the inner with some grease (this will make the removal of it next time more easy!) then place the new bearing in the ready position then use the old bearing to fit the new one (just place it on top of the new one and keep hitting it till it reaches home) hope this helps.

The bearing assembly is a one piece unit which is a press fit in the drum and retained by the big circlip. You will have to fit a new bearing if the old one has fallen apart (about £14). A new drum is about £20, set of shoes about £10, rear brake cylinder about £5.
I've just had to do the lot on my 306! Parts for both sides came to £130 in total. If you replace the cylinders you will most probably have to replace the brake pipes too. You will need them made up at 600mm long with the appropriate male ends.
