how do I replace power cable on hoover hurricane 353 series?

I need to either shorten or replace the power cable on my Hoover 350 hurricane vacumn cleaner.

There are 4 screws holding the top to the chassis. 2 are located at the rear of the handle. 1 is located under the On/Off switch and the last 1 is located under a triangular shaped insert on the other side of the handle. This removes the top and you can access the cable form there.I hope that your Hurricane is similar to the one I dismantled and that this helps you.
