How can I transfer my address book. Windows XP?

I have lost my address book that was on the front page of my opening outlook express. I can find my contacts/address book on the tool bar but it was
very convenient to be on the left hand side of the page under the folders/inbox/outbox/sent/deleted section. How can I transfer/restore my address book
to the left hand side of the page...
