Talbot Express gearbox?

I have a 1991, 2.5 diesal Talbot Express and the other day without warning I lost 5th and reverse gear and the gear stick is very loose. I can still get gears 1-4 but it is pot luck. I can not see anything hanging off or broken. Any ideas?
