temp gauge?

hi i have a 1.9td t reg ford galaxy i use my car nearly all day long and my temp gauge only goes a quarter of the way up i have very little heat come from the heaters i have plenty of water in the resivoir and there,s plenty of power coming from the heaters can someone help thanks
