Mend Peugeot 306 1.4 2001

peugeot 306 1.4 2001 whinning?

Any ideas?
get a whinning noise when I lift off the accelerator.
Goes when I depress the clutch or press the acccelerator again.
I.E noise under engine braking.

maybe worn gearbox/diff bearings, or generally worn gearbox!.
