My Thomson Top up TV box will not record. I go to the TV guide, press the R button. It then takes me to 'Planned Recordings' list. I press R again and the programme I want to record disapperas. I get constant messages saying 'Recording failed'. In addition, when I try to use live record or pause live tv an exclamation mark appears on the screen. I cannot even record the programme I am watching.
The above seems to be a fairly common fault. Mine has just done it yesterday. It seems poor that the advice given on the above page doesn't help (nothing will actually record i've found and can't reformat as still have items to watch on it.)
This all seemed to happen after a problem with recording a program and hasn't been fixed by rebooting the box either.
The recording ability of these boxes doesn't seem to be very good as it can't cope with recording two sequential programs on the same channel (it cuts them in the wrong place on almost every occasion as far as i've found).

turn your box of at thewall socket for two min then turn back on at the same time press the on button on the box as soon as you see a light on the box press up. down. left. right. this will reformat the hard drive and alow you to record . you have to press the sequense within a second of seeing the first light when turning the box on. it may take you a couple of trys to achieve but keep on trying until you here the hardrive begin to spin very fast . good luck
