how can i fix my sewing machine?

i have brother xl 2600 sewing machine.

Check to make sure the nut that holds the foot onto the needle bar is tight. I have one machine that does the exact same thing and the nut won't stay tight.

Hello Rowena,
It is quite common for the presser foot bar to get stuck, you need to get some WD40 and spray some on the top of the needle bar and leave it overnight so it seeps down, put some tissue under the foot to collect any residue oul, move the presser foot up and down quite a few times afterwards and it will probably be ok.
