Mend Renault Trafic Coming Engine Noise

There was a knocking noice coming from the engine of my renault trafic van?

There was a knocking noise coming from the engine (I think) of my renault trafic van. I pulled over to stop and when I tried to re-start the van was turning over but it wouldn't start. Any ideas????

The same thing happened to me yesterday on holiday in the south of France. The People from the autoclub told me that the high pressure diesel pump stopped giving pressure and needed to be replaced But I wonder. I read somewhere on this forum that the, perhaps the crakshaft sensor could also be defective.

Who van help us mend tis problem?
